CSO Lismore Diocese

Who is the client? Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Lismore. What is the project? The CSO in Lismore wanted to embed instructional walks across its schools and so worked with Lucid to create an easy-to-understand video that would show teachers this tool of improvement that could be applied to their own work as well as the work of their colleagues. The aim was to show the process in situ and to easily explain the methodology involved with the process. The outcome This video helped educational consultants to communicate the concept of instructional walks across dozens of schools, quickly and effectively. The practice was quickly embedded in all schools.

One of the challenges in embedding evidence based practice across all diocesan schools is the integration of professional learning opportunities into the timetables of time-poor teachers. When new, system-wide High Yield strategies need to be taught, the more succinctly we can do this, the better. The Instructional Walk video, developed in conjunction with Lucid Media, was an incredibly effective way to show the practice to all teachers across our schools and to highlight the fundamental elements of this high yield strategy. We have since embedded this practice seamlessly across all of our schools and it has proven to be an important asset in the ongoing improvement of our pedagogy.
